Golang program to search a floating-point number in a sorted slice using SearchFloat64s() function
Here, we are going to learn how to search a floating-point number in a sorted slice using SearchFloat64s() function in Golang (Go Language)?

Searching a floating-point number in a sorted slice using SearchFloat64s() function in Golang
Problem Solution:
In this program, we will create a sorted slice of 64-bit floating-point numbers and then search an item into a slice using sort.SearchFloat64s() function.
Program/Source Code:
The source code to search a floating-point number in a sorted slice using the SearchFloat64s() function is given below. The given program is compiled and executed successfully.
Golang code to search a floating-point number in a sorted slice using SearchFloat64s() function
// Golang program to search a floating-point number
// in a sorted slice using SearchFloat64s() function
package main
import "fmt"
import "sort"
func main() {
slice := []float64{10.1, 20.2, 30.3, 40.4, 50.7, 60.8, 70.9}
item := 60.8
index := sort.SearchFloat64s(slice, item)
if index < len(slice) && slice[index] == item {
fmt.Printf("Item %f found at %d index", item, index)
} else {
fmt.Printf("Item %f not found", item)
}
}
Output:
Item 60.800000 found at 5 index
Explanation:
In the above program, we declare the package main. The main package is used to tell the Go language compiler that the package must be compiled and produced the executable file. Here, we imported the fmt package that includes the files of package fmt then we can use a function related to the fmt package.
In the above program, we also imported the sort package to search an item in sorted slice using sort. SearchFloat64s() function and get the index of item into a slice.
In the main() function, we created a sorted slice of 64-bit floating numbers. Then search item into slice using SearchFloat64s(). If an item is found in the slice then we will print the index of the item on the console screen.
