Counting the total occurrences of a character in a string in Golang
Problem Solution:
In this program, we will count the total occurrence of a specified character in a specified string using strings.Count() function and print result on the console screen.
Program/Source Code:
The source code to count the total occurrence of a specified character in the specified string is given below. The given program is compiled and executed successfully.
Golang code to count the total occurrences of a specified character in the specified string
// Golang program to count the total occurrence of a
// specified character in the specified string.
package main
import "fmt"
import "strings"
func main() {
var str string = "india"
var result int = 0
result = strings.Count(str, "i")
fmt.Println("Total occurrence of 'i' in string: ", result)
}
Output:
Total occurrence of 'i' in string: 2
Explanation:
In the above program, we declare the package main. The main package is used to tell the Go language compiler that the package must be compiled and produced the executable file. Here, we imported the fmt package that includes the files of package fmt then we can use a function related to the fmt package.
In the main() function, we created three variables str, result that are initialized with "India", 0 respectively. Then we used strings.Count() function to count the occurrence of the character 'i' in the string str and printed the count on the console screen.
