Converting a 64-bit integer number into byte number in Golang

Problem Solution:

In this program, we will convert a 64-bit integer number into a byte number using the byte() function and print the result on the console screen.

Program/Source Code:

The source code to convert a 64-bit integer number into a byte number is given below. The given program is compiled and executed successfully.

Golang code to convert a 64-bit integer number into byte number

// Golang program to convert 64-bit integer number
// into byte number

package main

import "fmt"

func main() {
	var intNum64 int64 = 237
	var byteNum byte = 0

	byteNum = byte(intNum64)
	fmt.Println("Byte number: ", byteNum)
}

Output:

Byte number:  237

Explanation:

In the above program, we declare the package main. The main package is used to tell the Go language compiler that the package must be compiled and produced the executable file. Here, we imported the fmt package that includes the files of package fmt then we can use a function related to the fmt package.

In the main() function, we two variables intNum64, byteNum that are initialized with 237, 0 respectively. After that, we converted the intNum64 variable into a byte number and assigned it to the byteNum variable using the byte() function, and print the result on the console screen.
