Scala – Index of First Occurrence of Substring in a String
Here, we will create a string and then we get the index of the first occurrence of specified substring using the indexOf() function. Then we will print the result on the console screen.
Scala code to find the index of first occurrence of substring in a string
The source code to get the index of the first occurrence of specified substring is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.
// Scala program to get the index of
// first occurrence of specified substring
object Sample {
def main(args: Array[String]) {
var str: String = "Banana";
var index: Int = 0;
index = str.indexOf("na");
printf("Index of first occurrence of substring 'na' is: %d\n", index);
}
}
Output
Index of first occurrence of substring 'na' is: 2
Explanation
In the above program, we used an object-oriented approach to create the program. And, we created an object Sample. Here, we defined main() function. The main() function is the entry point for the program.
In the main() function, we created a string variable str with the initial value "Banana". Then we got the index of the first occurrence of specified substring using the indexOf() method. After that, we printed the result on the console screen.
