Scala - Add/Remove Elements in/from a Set
Here, we will create a set of integer numbers using the Set collection class. Then we will add and remove the item from created set using the "+=" and "-=" operator and then print the result on the console screen.
Scala code to add/remove elements in/from a set
The source code to add and remove elements from the set collection is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.
// Scala program to add and remove elements from set
import scala.collection.immutable._
object Sample {
// Main method
def main(args: Array[String]) {
var numbers = Set(10, 20, 30, 40, 50);
println(numbers);
// Add item to the set collection.
numbers += 60;
println(numbers);
// Remove item from the set collection.
numbers -= 40;
println(numbers);
}
}
Output
HashSet(10, 20, 50, 40, 30)
HashSet(10, 20, 60, 50, 40, 30)
HashSet(10, 20, 60, 50, 30)
Explanation
Here, we used an object-oriented approach to create the program. And, we imported Collection classes using below statement,
import scala.collection.immutable._
Here, we also created a singleton object Sample and defined the main() function. The main() function is the entry point for the program.
In the main() function, we created a set of numbers using the Set collection class. Then we added and removed the item from the numbers set collection using the "+=" and "-=" operators and printed the result on the console screen.
