Scala – Convert a String to Lowercase
Here, we will create a string and then we will convert the string into lowercase and print the result on the console screen.
Scala code to convert the string into lowercase
The source code to convert the string into a lowercase is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.
// Scala program to convert the string
// into lowercase
object Sample {
def main(args: Array[String]) {
var str: String = "Hello World";
var res = str.toLowerCase();
printf("String in lowercase: '%s'\n", res);
}
}
Output
String in lowercase: 'hello world'
Explanation
In the above program, we used an object-oriented approach to create the program. And, we created an object Sample. Here, we defined main() function. The main() function is the entry point for the program.
In the main() function, we created a string variable str initialized with "Hello World". Then we converted the string str into lowercase using the toLowerCase() method and assigned the result into res variable. After that, we printed the result on the console screen.
