Scala – Compare Strings (Using ==)

Here, we will compare string variables using the equal to "==" operator. The result of the "==" operator is a Boolean value. If two strings matched then it returns true otherwise it returns false.

Scala code to compare strings using equal to (==) operator

The source code to compare strings using the equal to (==) operator is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

// Scala program to compare strings
// using equal to (==) operator

object Sample {
  def main(args: Array[String]) {
    var str1 = "Hello";
    var str2 = "hello"
    var str3 = "hello"

    if (str1 == str2)
      println("Match");
    else
      println("No Match");

    if (str2 == str3)
      println("Match");
    else
      println("No Match");
  }
}

Output

No Match
Match

In the above program, we used an object-oriented approach to create the program. And, we created an object Sample. Here, we defined main() function. The main() function is the entry point for the program.

In the main() function, we created three string variables str1, str2, str3 that are initialized with "Hello", "hello", "hello" respectively. Then we compared strings and print the appropriate message on the console screen.
