IFFCO: Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited

IFFCO is an abbreviation of Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited. It is one of the largest multi-state cooperative societies in the world which is completely owned by the Indian Cooperatives.

When IFFCO was Established?

In 1967, it established and began with only 57 cooperatives and at present time, it is an incorporation of approximately 35,000 Indian Cooperatives holding out over 50 million Indian farmers with an extensive range of business interests such as general insurance, rural telecom in addition to its core business of manufacturing and selling fertilizers.

IFFCO History

In March 2018, the cooperative net worth was $2.3 billion which afterward reached $3 billion and as of 2017, it was ranked 66th on the Fortune India 500 list of India's biggest corporations. After the enactment of the Multistate Cooperative Societies act 1984 & 2002, it is considered to be listed as a multistate cooperative society.

The first managing director of IFFCO was Sh. Paul Pothen. As of October 2017, Mr. Balvinder Singh Nakai is the Chairman and Dr. U.S. Awasthi is the M.D & CEO of IFFCO.

• The Phulpur Unit of IFFCO secured Energy Conservation Award 2006-07.
• IFFCO AONLA won National Energy Conservation Award 2006.
• IFFCO Kandla won the Golden Peacock Environmental Management Award 2006.
• The Aonla unit of IFFCO won the National Safety Council of India Safety Award 2004.
