• In 1996, Google began as a research project by Larry page and Sergey Brin, at that same time when both of them were PhD students at Stanford University in California. To decide and regulate website relevance, they developed a new technology PageRank.
• On 14 September 1997, the domain of the google.com was registered and in the subsequent year in September 1998, the corporation of Google was founded.
• In 2000, Google began promoting advertisements and consequently Google Adwords/Adsense was launched. These advertisements of Google were based on the pay per click scheme, i.e. a person will be paid for his advertising if someone clicks on his ad link.
• In September 2001, the term PageRank was patented. In the identical year, Eric Schmidt was appointed as the new CEO of Google because Larry Page stood down as CEO of Google.
• In 2004, Google introduced Gmail which is its free web-based email service.
• In the year 2005, it launched Google Earth and Google Maps.
• In 2006, it launched Google Video, a new search tool for users. It enabled users to search videos on internet.
• In 2007, Google launched Android, an open platform for mobile devices.
  On September 2, 2008, Google launched Google Chrome browser. It was first launched for Microsoft Windows, and was afterward distributed to Linux, macOS, iOS, and Android.
