GAIL: Gas Authority of India Limited
GAIL is an abbreviation of the Gas Authority of India Limited. It is India's leading natural gas processing and distribution company. In National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), GAIL is included in the listing. The current Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of GAIL are Ashutosh Karnataka. Its head office is situated in New Delhi.

GAIL History
- In 1984, GAIL India was founded by the Government of India as a PSU (Public Sector Undertaking) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
- On 1 Feb 2013, GAIL has been awarded a Maharatna status by the Government of India. According to the research, it placed at 131 in the midst of the 150 highly trusted brands in India.
- In 1996, GAIL is included in the listing of NSE, BSE, and DSE.
- In 1999, LPG plants were authorized for production at Usar and Lakwa.
- In 2001, GAIL authorized for the production of the world’s longest and India's first cross-state LPG transmission pipeline which operates from Jamnagar in Gujarat to Loni in Uttar Pradesh.
- In 2002, it pulled out a 12% equity stake in GSEGs (156MW power project) in Gujarat.
- In August 2003, Bhagyanagar Gas Limited which is a combined business enterprise of GAIL and HPCL was founded.
- In 2009, GAIL received the SCOPE Meritorious Award for company authority and control for the year 2007-08.
- In 2010, it established a Representative Office in Egypt. In the identical year, in case of the category of gas utilities in Asia, it was ranked number one in the Platts Global Ranking.
- In 2011, GAIL received the Managing India Award for the Outstanding PSU of the Year. It is the first PSU to be given this award.
- In 2012, in the Petroleum Sector for the year 2009-10, it acknowledged the MoU Excellence Award for being the most outstanding performing CPSE. In the identical year, the pipeline from Dahej to Bhathinda which is spread up to 2200 km long was launched by the then Prime Minister.
GAIL Infrastructure
GAIL has the biggest leading pipeline network in the country. It makes available use of gas through pipelines to power plants for the production of over 4000 MW of power. This huge amount of power is utilized in the creation of fertilizers like 10 million tons of Urea and other fertilizers.
