EPFO: Employee Provident Fund Organization
EPFO is an abbreviation of the Employee Provident Fund Organization. It is a constitutional organization that is created by the Indian Government to support the Central Board of Trustees (CBT). It is created by the Employees Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952. Under the administrative control of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India it operates. In different places, it has around 122 offices across the country. The EPF organization also has a training establishment to carry out training, tutorials and discussion sessions for the officers, the staff of the organization and councils of the Employers and Employees.

EPFO is one of the leading social security organizations in India which is based on several recipients and economic transaction degrees. An enforced contributory provident fund scheme is controlled and managed by the Central Board with the help of the Employee Provident Fund Organization. EFPO also operates as a nodal organization for executing mutual Social Security Agreements with other countries.
EPFO History
In 1951, the organization of EPF came into subsistence through the Employees' Provident Fund Ordinance which was afterward replaced by Employees' Provident Fund Act, 1952.
At present, this Act is known as Employees Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952. It is relevant and valid at all over India apart from the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

In each state of India, the organization is classified into quite a lot of numerous zones that are lead by an Additional Central Provident Fund Commissioners.
Each state is necessary to have at the minimum of one Regional Office which is lead by Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Grade I.
