In this ISO 9000 tutorial, you will learn:
What is ISO?
ISO (International Standards Organization) is a chamber of 63 countries established to foster and formulate standardization. ISO published its 9000 series of standards released in the year 1987. ISO establish serves as a reference for a contract between independent groups.
What is ISO 9000?
The ISO 9000 is standard specifies the lines for using a valuable system. We have already seen that the value system of a large group applies to all works related to its service.
The ISO standard mainly addresses operational aspects and groups aspects such as responsibilities, reporting, carrier, etc.
In a shortly, ISO 9000 specifies a set of lines for repeat again and again and high-quality product development. It is important to understand that the ISO 9000 standard is not directly concerned about the product itself.
ISO 9000 Standards
The ISO 9000 series of standards is based on the possibility that if a proper process is repeated for production, the best quality products are bound to follow automatically.
Types of ISO 9000 Standards
The types of the workplace at which the different ISO standards apply are as follows as,
1) ISO 9001
ISO 9001 bears on to the administration engaged in the design, production, development, and services of goods. This is the standard that applies to most software development organizations or an administrator.
2) ISO 9002
ISO 9002 bears on to that administration which does not design products but is only involved in the production of software development organization or administration.
Examples: Category of industries carried out steel and car manufacturing industries that buy the product and plant designs from external sources are involved in only manufacturing those products of software. Therefore, ISO 9002 does not apply to software development organizations because is uses category.
3) ISO 9003
ISO 9003 bear on to administration that is involved only in downloading and testing of the products of software.
Why We Need ISO 9000 Certification?
There will be a mad scramble or quality among software development organizations for obtaining ISO certification due to the profits it offers. Some profits that can be acquired to administration by obtaining ISO certification are as follows,
- Customer's confidence in an organization increases when an organization or administrator qualifies for ISO certification. This is true in the international market. Otherwise, many organizations prizes for international software development contracts rather than that the development organization has ISO 9000 certification. For this reason, it is vital for software organizations involved in software export to made ISO 9000 certification.
- ISO 9000 needs a well-documented software production process to be in place after testing in it. A well-documented software production contributes to repeat again and again and higher quality of the developed software.
- ISO 9000 makes the development work focused, efficient, and cost-effective. • ISO 9000 certification points out the weak points of an organization and recommends remedial action of the software.
- ISO 9000 sets the basic framework for the development of an optimal process and Total Quality Management.
Features of ISO 9001 Certification
The salient features of ISO 9001 are as follows,
- All documents go with the development of a software product that should be perfectly managed, controlled and authorized. This uses a configuration management system to be in place in software.
- Perfect plans should be prepared and then progress against these plans should be monitored by users for the good version.
- Important documents should be independently checked and reviewed for effectiveness.
- The tested product should be the specification.
- Several organizational or administration aspects should be addressed e.g., management reporting of the quality team and test with work.
