Swift program to perform the bitwise left-shift operation

Here, we are going to learn how to perform the bitwise left-shift operation in Swift programming language?

Problem Solution:

Here, we will create two integer variables then we will perform a Bitwise left-shift (<<) operation between both variables and print the result on the console screen.

Program/Source Code:

The source code to perform the left-shift (<<) operation is given below. The given program is compiled and executed successfully.

// Swift program to perform the
// left-shift operation

import Swift;

var num1 = 4;
var num2 = 3;
var res = 0;

res = num1 << num2;

print(res);

Output:

32

...Program finished with exit code 0
Press ENTER to exit console.

Explanation:

In the above program, we imported a package Swift to use the print() function using the below statement,

import Swift;

Here, we created two integer variables num1 and num2 that are initialized with 4, 3 respectively. Then we performed a bitwise left-shift (<<) operation between the num1 and num2 variables. After that, we printed the result on the console screen.

Evolution of expression:

res = 4 << 3
res = 4 * (23)
res = 4 * 8
res = 32
