Scala - Create an Empty ListSet

Here, we will create an empty set of integer numbers using the ListSet.empty method. Then we will add elements to the ListSet using the "+=" operator and print elements of the list set on the console screen.

The ListSet is implemented using a list data structure. It stores items in reverse insertion order, which means that the newest item will be stored at the head of the list. It maintains insertion order.

Scala code to create an empty ListSet and add new items in it

The source code to create an empty ListSet and add new items into ListSet is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

// Scala program to create an empty ListSet
// and add new items into it

import scala.collection.immutable._

object Sample {
  // Main method
  def main(args: Array[String]) {
    var nums: ListSet[Int] = ListSet.empty;

    nums += 10;
    nums += 20;

    println("Elements of list set:");
    nums.foreach((item: Int) => printf("%d ", item));
    println();
  }
}

Output

20 10

Explanation

Here, we used an object-oriented approach to create the program. And, we imported Collection classes using below statement,

import scala.collection.immutable._

Here, we also created a singleton object Sample and defined the main() function. The main() function is the entry point for the program.

In the main() function, we created an empty list set nums using ListSet collection. Then we added items into created ListSet nums and printed the elements of list set using foreach loop on the console screen.
