UUID Class getMostSignificantBits() method

  • getMostSignificantBits() method is available in java.util package.
  • getMostSignificantBits() method is used to get the most significant 64 bits of these 128 bits.
  • getMostSignificantBits() method is a non-static method, it is accessible with the class object only and if we try to access the method with the class name then we will get an error.
  • getMostSignificantBits() method does not throw an exception at the time of getting the most significant bits.

Syntax:

    public long getMostSignificantBits();

Parameter(s):

  • It does not accept any parameter.

Return value:

The return type of the method is long, it returns most significant 64 bits of these 128 bits.
