LocalDateTime Class minusSeconds() method
- minusSeconds() method is available in java.time package.
- minusSeconds() method is used to subtract the given seconds from this date-time object and return the LocalDateTime.
- minusSeconds() method is a non-static method, it is accessible with the class object only and if we try to access the method with the class name then we will get an error.
- minusSeconds() method may throw an exception at the time of performing subtraction.
DateTimeException – This exception may throw when the calculated result value exceeds the limit.
Syntax:
public LocalDateTime minusSeconds(long sec_val);
Parameter(s):
- long sec_val – represents the seconds to be subtracted from this LocalDateTime.
Return value:
The return type of this method is LocalDateTime, it returns the LocalDateTime that holds the value subtracted the given seconds from this LocalDateTime.
Example:
// Java program to demonstrate the example
// of minusSeconds(long sec_val) method
// of LocalDateTime
import java.time.*;
public class MinusSecondsOfLocalDateTime {
public static void main(String args[]) {
long seconds = 4;
// Instantiates two LocalDateTime
LocalDateTime da_ti1 = LocalDateTime.parse("2005-10-05T10:10:10.00");
LocalDateTime da_ti2 = LocalDateTime.now();
// Display da_ti1, da_ti2 and
// seconds
System.out.println("LocalDateTime da_ti1 and da_ti2: ");
System.out.println("da_ti1: " + da_ti1);
System.out.println("da_ti2: " + da_ti2);
System.out.println("seconds to subtract: " + seconds);
System.out.println();
// Here, this method subtracts the given
// seconds from this date-time object i.e.
// here we are subracting 4 seconds from
// this object da_ti1
LocalDateTime minus_sec = da_ti1.minusSeconds(seconds);
// Display minus_sec
System.out.print("da_ti1.minusSeconds(seconds): ");
System.out.println(minus_sec);
// Here, this method subtracts the given
// seconds from this date-time object and
// i.e. here we are subracting 4 seconds from
// this object da_ti2
minus_sec = da_ti2.minusSeconds(seconds);
// Display minus_sec
System.out.print("da_ti2.minusSeconds(seconds): ");
System.out.println(minus_sec);
}
}
Output
LocalDateTime da_ti1 and da_ti2:
da_ti1: 2005-10-05T10:10:10
da_ti2: 2020-06-08T02:47:53.494821
seconds to subtract: 4
da_ti1.minusSeconds(seconds): 2005-10-05T10:10:06
da_ti2.minusSeconds(seconds): 2020-06-08T02:47:49.494821
