NIIT: National Institute of Information Technology
NIIT is an abbreviation National Institute of Information Technology. It is an international education-oriented company which focuses on knowledge of computer, its application, and software and information technology. NIIT is a multinational corporation headquartered in Gurgaon, India. It is largely well-known for its IT training even though it also makes available for using IT solutions to enterprises. It comes in the list of the top computer education contributor in India. It also gives training and IT certification courses like Java certification, .NET certification, CCNA certification, etc.
In the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), NIIT is listed in the ranking in India.
NIIT History
In 1981, NIIT was founded by two IITins named Rajendra S. Pawar and Vijay K. Thadani. In 2004, this company was reorganized into two groups:
- NIIT Limited: Its main attention to training and education. It makes available corporate training, vocational training, and the service sector and educational training in schools. It possesses 23.98% of NIIT technologies.
- NIIT Technologies: Its major attention is on making available for using IT solutions to enterprises.

NIIT has training centers in majority of the states and union territories in India like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
NIIT also gives training in many countries of the world like the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, China, South Africa and many more.
NIIT Business Sectors
NIIT is prepared and planned along the following three lines of business,
- Corporate Learning Group: It provides Managed Training Services (MTS), which comprise custom curriculum design and content development, learning administration, learning delivery, strategic sourcing, learning technology and advisory services.
- Skills and Careers Group: This pays attention to offering employability skills to learners. It comprises learning programs in soft skills, business process excellence, retail sales enablement, vocational skills, digital media marketing, new age IT, Banking, Insurance and Financial services (through IFBI), Executive Management (through NIIT Imperia) and BPO/KPO training (through NIIT Uniqua).
- School Learning Group: It gives tools and products for technology-based learning to government and private schools in India. It provides NIIT nGuru learning solutions for schools, which comprise Interactive classrooms with digital content, Math Lab, IT Wizard programs and Quick School ERP software.
