1) MMS: Multimedia Messaging Service
MMS is an abbreviation of multimedia messaging service. Multimedia messaging service is a modified version of the Short Message Service protocol which contains multimedia messages. MMS makes available for using a quality standard method to send and receive multimedia messages which comprise images, graphics, audio files, video clips, text, etc. The MMS can only be utilized in electronic devices that contain this service. The devices which contain multimedia services are mobile phones, smartphones, personal computers, handheld devices, etc. Both the networks GPRS and 3G are specifically suitable for MMS to be used. GPRS operated MMS are slow in function and takes a huge period on the other side 3G operated MMS are fast in function and also contain video streaming.
History of Multimedia Messaging Service
Multimedia Messaging Service was firstly designed and created as a confined technology. It makes functioning simple and easy to operate to share images, audio files, and video clips. The first and foremost successful market for commercial purposes in the case of MMS at the beginning of a specified time of countries was in China but, there was a very rapid increase in the graph of MMS traffic in the US between 2010 and 2013.

Disadvantages of Multimedia Messaging Service
- The compatibility of MMS designed by one brand cell phone may not be with the other brand cell phone because of the distinct functions and specifications.
- A large amount of MMS transactions at a single time can make the network traffic server slower.
- Some poorly configured phones may lead to no proper transaction of multimedia messages and sometimes the user never activated the settings configuration which leads to delivery failure.
2) MMS: Microsoft Media Server
MMS is also an abbreviation of Microsoft Media Server. Microsoft Media Server is a network-streaming on-demand protocol designed particularly for digital live media, perform services to move unicast data in Windows Media Services. MMS is disapproved by Microsoft in approbation of RTSP.
