ARPANET used “packet switching” at the beginning funded by the U.S. Department of Defense, to enable multiple computers to communicate on a single network. On January 1, 1983, ARPANET has chosen to acquired TCP/IP, and from that time researchers started to gather together the "network of networks" that became the modern Internet.
