DCOM: Distributed Component Object Model
DCOM is an abbreviation of the "Distributed Component Object Model". It is an extended version of the Component Object Model, which expands the range of network communication on a variety of distributed system of computers and runs programs all across the network. It is a Microsoft technology's non-free software, which was at the beginning known as Network OLE and afterward changed to Distributed Component Object Model, because of the wide-ranging use of Distributed Computing Environment/Remote Procedure Calls (DCE/RPC).
DCOM History
In the middle of the month of September, 1996, DCOM was first time in public openly introduced as a beta for Windows 95.
