CrunchBang Linux

CrunchBang Linux abbreviated as "#!" was a Linux distribution originated from Debian.

The origination of CrunchBang Linux was done by Philip Newborough, who is more universally known by his username, core nominal. It used a customized Openbox arrangement of window manager in place of the desktop environment to get a well functioning, resource proficient Debian desktop. It was only planned to bring in to take part in relatively a small number of resources of the system. The GTK+ widget toolkit is used in a lot of CrunchBang Linux’s already installed applications.

CrunchBang had had a software warehouse but take out the huge mass of packages from Debian's warehouses.

In 2013, expansion and growth came to an end and a lot of its supplier’s shifted their hard work to a new original project, BunsenLabs Linux.

On 6 February 2015, Philip Newborough proclaimed that he had put an end in expanding and growing CrunchBang and that clients would get the advantage of using vanilla Debian. A variety of Linux distributions have taken place in its position in an attempt to keep on its setting and background. In the midst of the highly considerable and noteworthy are BunsenLabs and CrunchBang++.

CrunchBang Linux Versions

• CrunchBang Linux made available an Openbox version for i686, i486, and amd64 architectures.
• Up to the point till October 2010, there also was a "lite" version with a smaller number of installed applications. The "Lite" version was resourcefully put an end to after the distribution on which it was based – Ubuntu 9.04 – arrived at its finishing of existence and CrunchBang organized and all set to change to an unusual base system.

• The first letter of the code name was the first letter of the upstream Debian launch (up to that time it was known as Debian Squeeze and CrunchBang Statler and in the present, it was known as Debian Wheezy and CrunchBang Waldorf).
