CAB: Cabinet

CAB is an abbreviation of "Cabinet", which is a Windows Cabinet file contain .cab as a filename extension kept in an archive format and used in Microsoft Windows that supports DEFLATE, Quantum, and LZX data compression algorithms and embedded public key certificates. CAB files are compressed data archives that are used for Windows software installations engines such as system files, setup API, device installers, network components, and device drivers, which draws out these compressed data files for use in the framework of a variety of application, software, and hardware. These files were initially known as Diamond files and are acknowledged by their primary 4 bytes MSCF.

Installation of CAB files

A number of steps supposed to be taken to install a CAB file, which comprise:

Firstly, a user requires downloading the CAB Files depending upon on which OS that user is installing and also the design of that OS.
Next step is to rename file according to the user, "cabname".сab.
Now copy to the C drive folder C:\
Next step is to right click on Windows icon and select command-prompt to run it as admin.
Now the user has to enter this command for the initialization of installation process:
DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:c:\ "cabname".cab
This initialization of installation process, installs the CAB File.
Once the installation is ended, the device or system of the user will restart.
If not then the user may require restarting his/her PC or system

CAB file framework

In the CAB file framework, a CAB archive can comprise up to 65535 CAB-folders, in which every folder can comprise up to 65535 files.
In contrast to individual compression of every file, every CAB-folder makes available highly well-resourceful compression for the reason that from inside; it is taken care of as a single compressed block.
In the CAB file framework, it is not feasible to store empty folders in CAB archives for the reason that every up-to-date opening in a CAB-folder has to be a file format to keep the CAB-folder in the CAB archive.
