AHRC: Asian Human Rights Commission
AHRC is an abbreviation of the Asian Human Rights Commission. It is a self-governing, and the non-government organization began independently by a number of people of jurists and human rights activists in Asia. In 1986, it was founded and the objective was to actively encourage and spread awareness of human rights in the Asian countries. It actively encourages and spread civil, economic, political, social and cultural rights. The head office of AHRC is in Hong Kong. The General Consultative class with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is supported by the Asian Legal Resource Centre (ALRC) which is a sister organization of AHRC.

AHRC Objectives
- To actively encourage, spread and preserve human rights by assessment, formal inquiry, the examination of facts and taking suitable legal actions.
- To support women, children, minorities, and Dalits by working towards the social incorporation of these discriminated categories of people.
- To make certain rapid and suitable actions in opposition to human rights violations by creating a well-organized information system using current communication methods.
- To actively encourage and spread awareness about human rights particularly through the folk school perspective.
- To defend the rights of people by maintaining and promoting countries in taking responsibilities of legal, judicial and administrative transformations.
- To assist in resolving quarrels and debate between countries through bringing the process of peace and dispute resolution methods.
- To demeanor significant programs to actively encourage human rights.
AHRC Internships
- The collaborator organizations in Asia are approached by AHRC, with which it has a close and long period of functioning association and analyzes the selection of interns with those organizations.
- The offered internship placements are generally restricted to one internship per country per year at this spot.
- The precedence is given to internships for people from the collaborator organizations.
Under the given following conditions other people who are interested in an internship with the AHRC may also be able to apply.
- The candidate must reside for a minimum period of six months.
- The AHRC does not offer any financial support or place to stay for these candidates.
- The preference of interns will be with those who have a well-built legal background, country experience and a strong interest in human rights.
- Candidates are determined on their merits and depending upon the requirements of the AHRC.
- To acknowledge assignments in countries in the area with complex human rights conditions, interns should also be all set for these stages.
