Countries Celebrating Independence Day On 15 August Beyond India

In India, 15 August is celebrated as an Independence Day. India became an independent country on August 15, 1947, from British rule.

There are some other counties that gained freedom from other countries and became independent countries on 15 August.

1. Republic of Congo

The Republic of Congo became an independent country on 15 August 1960. It gained freedom from France. Another name of the Republic of Congo is "Congo-Brazzaville," and it is a central African nation with rainforest reserves and also known for gorillas. The capital of the Republic of Congo is Brazzaville.

2. South Korea and North Korea

Korean peninsula (South Korea and North Korea) became independent countries on 15 August 1945. They gained freedom from the Japanese rules. The Korean peninsula was divided into two counties that we know today, South Korea and North Korea.

South Korea is an East Asian nation on the southern half of the Korean Peninsula, its capital city is Seoul. Whereas the North Area is also in East Asia, its official name is "Democratic People's Republic of Korea",  and its capital city is Pyongyang.

3. Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein became an independent country on 15 August 1866. It gained freedom from German Confederation rule. On 15 August 1866, Liechtenstein celebrates this day as "National Day".

Liechtenstein is the smallest but a rich country on the European continent. It is a German-speaking country and located in the area of 25 km long between Austria and Switzerland.

4. Bahrain

Bahrain became an independent country on 15 August, 1971. It gained freedom from the United Kingdom. The official name of Bahrain is Kingdom of Bahrain, and it is an island country in West Asia.

Bahrain has more than 80 islands, of which 50 are natural and 33 are artificial; its capital city is Manama.
