Scala – Replacing Characters in a String

Here, we will create a string and then we will replace the specified character with another character in string using replace() function, and then we will print the result on the console screen.

Scala code to replace the character with another character in the string

The source code to replace the character with another character in the string is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

// Scala program to replace the character
// by another character in string

object Sample {
  def main(args: Array[String]) {
    var str: String = "Banana";
    var res: String = "";

    res = str.replace('a', 'A');
    printf("String after replacing character is: %s\n", res);
  }
}

Output

String after replacing character is: BAnAnA

Explanation

In the above program, we used an object-oriented approach to create the program. And, we created an object Sample. Here, we defined main() function. The main() function is the entry point for the program.

In the main() function, we created a string variable str with the initial value "Banana". Then we replace the character 'a' with the character 'A' in string str and assigned the result into the res variable. After that, we printed the value of the res variable on the console screen.
