How to list the content of the specified directory in Golang?

Problem Solution:

In this program, we will list the content of a specified directory using ioutil.ReadDir() function and print the result on the console screen.

Program/Source Code:

The source code to list the content of the specified directory is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

Golang code to list the content of the specified directory

// Golang program to list the content of
// the specified directory

package main

import "fmt"
import "io/ioutil"

func main() {
	result, err := ioutil.ReadDir("MyDir")
	if err != nil {
		panic(err)
	}

	fmt.Println("Content of MyDir directory:")
	for _, val := range result {
		fmt.Printf("\t%s\n", val.Name())
	}
}

Output:

Content of MyDir directory:
	ABC.txt
	data.bin
	file.bin

Explanation:

In the above program, we declare the package main. The main package is used to tell the Go language compiler that the package must be compiled and produced the executable file. Here, we imported the fmt, io/ioutil packages then we can use a function related to the fmt and io/ioutil package.

In the main() function, we listed the content of the directory using ioutil.ReadDir() and print the result on the console screen.
